Going to be out of town or on vacation? Create an auto-response email! When you're going to be unreachable for a period of time, auto-response messages will notify users that you're not checking email so that they know why they aren't getting responses. Here's how to create an auto-response message:
- Click the Gears icon located at the upper right corner of the email interface and select the Mail Tab.
- Under the Preferences link, click on the checkbox next to Enable Auto-Reply. (When checked, your auto-reply message will be sent to everyone who sends you an email.)
- Click on the checkbox next to Auto-Reply once to sender. (If Auto-Reply is enabled and this box is checked, an auto-reply will only be sent once to the sender).
- Type the email addresses of the person(s) whom you do not want to receive the auto-reply message in the box provided. Each email address must be separated by a semi-colon (;).
- Write the message you want to be automatically sent in the Auto-Reply Message field.
- Click on the Save button to implement the auto-reply service.
